Democratic Republic of Kongo, Songo tribe, 2nd half of 20th century, wood, bristle, natural pigments, "kifwebe" mask (male variation), h. 62 cm, in good condition - small scratches and crack, and organic woodworm damages Provenance: William T. Wilson (USA). Kifwebe masks are used by members of secret societ "Bwadi Bwa Kifwebe". Male version - expressive hair or female - with flat hair. Size of hair  demostrate strenght and power.
