Jiří Valoch worked as a curator, theoretician, critic, publicist and collector, whose professional interests merged with his own artistic practice. He developed and promoted the field of conceptual art in Brno from the 1960s onwards, with a number of international contacts, thanks to which his work is part of important foreign collections of conceptual art. In 2023, he was awarded the prestigious Bernard Heidsieck Prize by the Centre Pompidou in Paris for his outstanding contribution to "the use of text in intermedia art practice outside the context of traditional literature".
