Short item description
Věra Janoušková, founding member of the well-known creative group UB 12, belonged to the generation that emerged in the second half of the 1950s She became a very distinctive sculptor from the very beginning. Her sculptures from found objects exhibited at the group's first exhibition aroused great interest from experts and a negative reaction from the official media. Especially her figures created by welding enamel elements (old utensils, scoops, pots, stove tops, ...) were very interesting. Věra Janoušková thus joined the ranks of the representatives of the new figuration and material art and her poetics was close to pop art. In the sixties she was successful, but during the normalization period she almost she was unable to exhibit. A new interest in her work became apparent only after the end of of the communist regime and her sculptures and collages became a part of collections of National Gallery and many regional galleries. During her lifetime, the Věra and Vladimír Janouškovy foundation was established and last year the former studio of both of the couple in Prague's Košíře was openned to the public.
