sign. RD ED. KASPARIDES, note on the reverse Vor Sonnenuntergang
Short item description
Professionally restored.
Eduard Kasparides came from a large artistic family of painters and dyers
active between G and Moravská since the first half of the 19th
century. The most prominent of the Kasparides family, Eduard is sometimes
referred to as the Moravian Schikaneder. At first he painted portraits and
genres similar to his own, and from the late 1990s onwards he began to paint
landscapes of a distinctly elegiac tone, where the landscape is a mirror of the
artist's troubled soul. The artist's self-portraits are owned by the Moravian
Museum, but the vast majority of his works are in Austrian public and private
collections.
