Short item description
pigment, tissue paper, passepartout, frame, museum glass, 28,5 × 22,5 cm, signed. PD Adriena ŠimotováAdriena Šimotová, a member of the well-known UB 12 group, which included a number of prominent personalities (Stanislav Kolíbal, Jiří John, Václav Boštík, Jiří Mrázek, Daisy Mrázková, Věra Janoušková, Vladimír Janoušek and other artists and theoreticians), had a complicated development. In her early years, she devoted herself to painting, drawing and printmaking, and later developed her own creative methods, which she used and developed until the end of her life. She was able to express her feelings very sensitively and her work was influenced by personal, often very painful experiences. She continuously worked with pigments or with layers of paper, often punctured and "wounded" by the impact of sharp objects. Sometimes she also created three-dimensional objects again from paper. In her delicate work, she always took into account that its duration could be limited and that various, even destructive processes could continue to affect it. Even in the last years of her life, when she was no longer healthy, she continued to work intensively and achieved, perhaps because of this, extraordinary impressiveness in her drawings. The artist's unusual feeling for expressing the depth and complexity of relationships between people, for connecting all layers of thought, is reflected in her delicate drawings, typical of a mature period.
