Certificate fo The carving of a saint is probably part of a Baroque sculpture.
It is likely to be a figure of the Virgin Mary under the cross. This is suggested by the position of the clasped hands, analogous to other sculptures of this theme. The figure is standing in the traditional contra posture with the right leg, and is placed on a low polygonal plinth. The body wraps around a dynamic drapery of a cloak, emphasizing the expression of the sculpture. The expression of the face is
is more pensive and contemplative than pained. The carving method corresponds to of late Baroque work. The details of the handwork and the bravura modelling
of the facial anatomy with the delicate finesse of the depression of the eye pupils for good modelling testifies to masterful work. The sculpture has been fully
polychromed and remnants of the colouring can still be seen in the depths of the
drapery and on some parts of the incarnation.r the permanent export of an object of cultural character NPÚ Brno.
