František Skála is a founding member of the well-known group Tvrdohlavých, a member of the Sklep Theatre, and the secret group B. K. S. (Bude Konec Světa). He is a laureate of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award (1991) and in 2010 he received the Ministry of Culture Award for his contribution to the field of fine arts. He has become one of our most original sculptors. His expression develops naturally and without sudden turns, and is based on the same or similar aesthetics. However, František Skála reacts vividly to changes in the contemporary world. He often uses found (sometimes quite bizarre) objects and natural objects, whose shapes inspire him. In his strange and yet strange objects, he uses an almost inexhaustible imagination, in which he freely follows the approaches of the Dadaists, but at the same time is based on knowledge of nature and the environment in which we live. He had a number of major exhibitions, for example in the Prague National Gallery (Wallenstein Riding School), the Prague City Gallery, and the Rudolfinum Gallery. He also represented the Czech Republic in the national pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
